Combo Cancelling

OK how do you exactly do it?

I've read several posts stating that Quick Aura can be used to cancel combos. I was only able to do it twice, once using Quick Aura and another one using Smash.

Do you just spam the Quick Aura hotkey in the middle of a combo or is there some trick to it?

The combo is Reflex>War Cry(save)>Shellbreak(swift)>Meikyou(cons).


Seeing as I was able to do it using Smash then it isn't just limited to Quick Aura. Will any quick skill work? Perfect defense for example.

 

Any fast animation support skill will do but I will still recommend quick aura since it cost 0 mp and its fast

 

That's my problem. I can' seem to do it consistently.

 

Maybe if the skill where you want to cancel is an instant cast it might not activate since its too fast. I encounter such problem too when I want to escape an aoe and Impact is activated in my combo I spam like crazy before Impact is cast and still didnt activate quick aura.

 

Yeah that seems to be the issue.

Back to the drawing board I guess...

 

Theres no consistent way to do it lol. Just mash the shortcut key and hope the system will sense it before going to next combo skill.

 

Well, you can spam in the middle of a combo, or you can spam the shortcut in the middle of a skill's animation. If you are spamming on a skill that has particularly fast animation, it is freaking hard to cancel. XD This is the main reason why the combo cancelling thing is most often seen on Mages or Snipers. :^)

 

Also u can delay skills of ur combo. i noticed depending on skill when u move away from boss out of range for the next comboskill it wont be executed until u back in range to your target.

 

Can't really do that when all my combo are quickly executed.

I actually exploit that with my Buff combo. Reflex>Warcry is executed at range then I tap attack so my char closes in using shukuchi then the combo continues to Shellbreak>Meikyou.


I just want the combo cancelling for perfect defense when an aoe catches me in the middle of a combo but apparently it's unreliable.

 

As a tamer with abbyssmal cast time combo it is an ace-in-sleeve trick. But based on my experience it has a bit
First proration must begin before any combo, specifically you need to tap the action button first, hit 2 autos and begin combo. If you are off-range and you tap your combo it has a slim chance if any to get canceled by quick aura.(a change of atrack habit is advisable)
Second, since you are gonna using quick aura, it is best to use it while an attack skill is still in animation(tap fast and pray that it sinks!) Take note that quick aura must not be included in the combo that you are trying to cancel since it will not work.

If you are trying to cut a buff combo. It is best to use an attack skill. (Buff cuts attack, attack cuts buff) just make sure that there is no combo behind that skill you are using.

This is just based on my experience, it may not work or maybe it may.

 

Try cancelling your combo via skill range activation.

 

This ideas will help you. You could just fill that combo with an interrupt if the boss is not interrupt sensitive or a out of range filler skill just to escape
